Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK
Make-A-Wish has one very simple objective - to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. The Charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then we have granted over 5,000 wishes.
Make-A-Wish has no cures to offer, and all too often, some of our endings are sad but during desperate times when there seems to be no hope, Make-A-Wish steps in and provides positive and uplifting relief. Whether it is being a princess or a policeman for the day, meeting a favourite celebrity or just enjoying time away from home, a wish come true brings so much joy to a child's life and provides magical memories.
There are 20,000 children in the UK facing the challenge of living with a life-threatening illness. We can grant 600 wishes a year, but we'd love to do more.
Turning clothing into wishes
We have appointed Clothes Aid to distribute and collect clothing bags on our behalf throughout the UK. Make-A-Wish receives 90 percent of the proceeds in Surrey, Liverpool, Knowsley and London and 75 percent of the proceeds raised through the sale of your clothing donations elsewhere. You can also donate clothes, shoes, household linen and curtains.
The funds raised go towards helping our dedicated team of wishgranters and volunteers to turn wishes into reality for even more children. When you fill one of our special collection bags with clothing, you know that somewhere in the UK, you are bringing a beaming smile to a child's face.
The more clothes you donate, the more wishes we can grant.
