Arrest of Suffolk collection bag thiefs
On 8 April 2008, two individuals from the company Polotex were arrested in Stowmarket, Suffolk for stealing Clothes Aid collection bags.
On 28 November 2008, they were charged at Ipswich Crown Court after pleading guilty to theft. One individual was fined £1,000 or 14 days imprisonment, and the other was fined £750 or 14 days imprisonment.
Theft of clothing bags is a serious issue for Clothes Aid, but we are please to see that our campaigning and hard work against bogus collectors is resulting in arrests and charges like these.
New charity partners in 2009
We are very excited to announce that Clothes Aid will start to collect for two new regional charity partners in the New Year.
In Scotland, funds will be raised for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). CHAS provides hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Collections will also be carried out on behalf of Zoë's Place Baby Hospice, Liverpool. Zoë’s Place offers palliative respite and terminal care for children up to the age of 5 years with complex and life-limiting illnesses.
